Rooting writing in 'Wow!' experiences can help to inspire students to write, as it gives them a solid foundation to write from.  It can be tricky for students to write a letter from a text-based stimulus, and it is far more stimulating and purposeful to write a letter of thanks, for example, to the company who have provided an exciting theatre show to watch or a sporting event to experience.  'Wow!' experiences don’t always have to feature trips out though, as they might involve art activities, team building experiences or music and drama sessions – anything that awakens the fun of a physical and tangible experience.   ​
